Debt Collection Law
Debt Collection is the process of
recovering an amount due to a firm by a client or customer. Often times these
collectors may legally step over bounds that the clients do not even know
exist. According to the Fair Trading Act, debt collection agencies are not
allowed to:
●
Contact you before 7am or after 10pm to demand
payment
●
Make direct or indirect threats that they cannot
legally enforce (garnishing your wages or threatening to sue)
●
Threaten to send one of their collection agents
to seize your property
●
Threaten to harm you, your family, or property
physically (criminal offense)
●
Provide misleading information (informing you
that they are a part of a legal department in order to strike fear of legal
repercussions)
●
Harass you with such frequent phone calls
●
Get in touch with your employer for any reason
besides verifying your employment
These are just a few examples of what debt
collection agencies are not allowed to do or say in order to get you to repay
your debt. You do not deserve to be treated in such a cruel way and should seek
legal help as soon as possible! For the best debt collection law Calgary
